All-Russian Day of Family, Love and Fidelity

The Day of Family, Love and Fidelity is held annually on July 8, at the Memory day of Saints Peter and Fevronia whom Russian Orthodox Church honours as the protectors of family and marriage.

The marriage of Peter and Fevronia is considered by the Orthodox Church as the exemplary one. For Peter the Prince Davyd Jurievich is taken who reigned in Murom in the XIII century, at the end of his life he was tonsured and received the new name, and Fevronia is identified as his wife Euphrosinia.

As part of the celebration the prayer service is held at Holy Trinity Monastery. In festive evening concert leading artists of the domestic stage take part.
